In her book Tender Buttons, Gertrude Stein used language to turn mundane objects into unorthodox philosophical ideas. Likewise, Splendor Buttons hopes to turn the quotidian into subjects of subsistence and poignancy, sprouting pleasure, delight, and dreams.
Issue No. 2: The Dancing Issue
Released in print May 2022.
A 92-page zine-manifesto about subverting gender performance within classical dance. Contains an essay, an interview with a drag queen, poetry, photography, and collages by writers, visual artists, and dancers.
Issue No. 1: A Quarnazine on Fashion and Social Distancing
Initial release as an e-zine in May 2020. Released in print January 2021.
Now a time capsule to the early days of the pandemic, this is a quaranzine about fashion, art, bodies, confinement, containment, cleanliness, luxury, privilege, music, and togetherness while being far away. Contains essays, poems, photographs, collages, mixtapes, acrostics, and diary entries by fifteen international contributors across disciplines and backgrounds, including art, fashion design, dance, literature, and public health.
